Winter Season is upon us and as we look toward another 8 weeks of fish deliveries we wanted to pause and give thanks to some of the people and places that help us make this program possible. Today, let’s look at our Winter Season 2011 distribution site partners – some amazing local businesses we hope you’ll join us in supporting.
Volante Farms (292 Forest St., Needham, MA 02492) is a market and garden center offering homegrown produce and flowers in season and a full array of complementary products throughout the year. Beginning their 95th season, they will be open year round in April of 2012. Find them online at their blog or on Facebook.
Brookwood Community Farms (11 Blue Hill River Road, Canton, MA 02186) is a working organic farm and education center located in Milton and Canton, MA. The farm is dedicated to preserving historic farmland through sustainable agricultural production that improves access to healthy, affordable, freshly grown fruits and vegetables in urban communities. The farm operates a community supported agriculture program, sells produce at local farmers markets and provides on-farm employment, educational and volunteer opportunities to members of the surrounding communities. Community Servings (18 Marbury Terrace, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130) is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses. We give our clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious meals, and send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. You can also find them on Facebook.

Butter Brook Farm (982 Main Street, Acton, MA 01720) is located in Acton, Massachusetts and features truly organically grown vegetables, produce, dairy items, at home grown pricing. Codman Community Farm (58 Codman Road, Lincoln, MA 01773) is the farm in the heart of Lincoln, Massachusetts. A living example of Lincoln’s agricultural heritage, Codman is a place for children and adults to see animals, celebrate community and conservation, and learn about farming. Appleton Farm (219 County Road, Ipswich, MA 01938) is one of the oldest continuously operating farms in the country, established and maintained by nine generations of the Appleton family. They have a new retail farm shop and have hired an award-winning cheese-maker to oversee its growing dairy operation – check out their milk, including their non-homogenized cream line! Bolton Spring Farm (159 Main Street, Bolton, MA 01740) 150 acres of pristine farmland, rolling orchard hills and woodlands, Bolton Spring Farm evokes a feeling of old New England country. They have a farm-stand and bakery, as well as pick-your-own. Bolton Spring Farm is also on Facebook.
Marshall’s Fenway Farm Stand (1345 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02215) provides the freshest produce; locally baked pastries and breads; local cheeses and fresh dairy products; imported olive oils and gourmet food items; and local butchery meats. Eastleigh Farm (1062 Edmands Road, Framingham, MA 01701) was established in the early 1900’s and seven years ago the current owner began the process of reconverting the facility to a dairy operation. Their raw milk is available at the farm-stand in addition to locally produced cheeses, eggs, seasonal items and other products will be available. They even offer their raw milk as a CSA. Woodman Farm Stand (251 Low Street, Newburyport, MA) is closed for the season but allowing us to deliver there throughout the winter – be sure and watch for them to open this spring.
